A former police officer, Lip's seniority allowed him to keep his job in the face of the global defunding of police forces everywhere. Newly retired, Lip finds work as a cameraman for a Global Television network devoted to showcasing the lives of Freelancers who are looking to make a name for themselves. Assigned to an Elementalist named Ziem, Lip finds himself showcasing the Freelancer's exploits with his newly formed team made up of a Specian moleman and a woman who throws things exceptionally well.
