John Beckmont visits a local mall to spend some idle time. He's happy for the diversion, busy shoppers coming and going, a great variety of individuals, but nothing unexpected. Then he spots her, an anomaly. She is obviously out of place-and time. Alone, pale, and frightened, she seems a refugee from a bygone century. (This book is a novella.)
