Anglicized Foreign Words for Scrabble

Words listed in this book are English ones in terms of vocabulary use, but are formed directly from other languages using the same spelling. English plurals for these words are also included wherever possible. Knowing these foreign words that have been incorporated into the English language can help you score significant points in a Scrabble(R) game. The majority of the Anglicized foreign words are directly formed from the French language, followed by those directly formed from the Latin language. Other Anglicized foreign words that are plentiful are those directly formed from the Spanish, Italian and Greek languages. A total of 23 non-English foreign languages are included in this book. There are almost 12,000 Anglicized words that are included in this book, of which over 45 percent are from the French and Latin languages. Foreign languages for which there too few English entries (such as Egyptian, Hawaiian and Quechua) were not considered for this book. Also, words derived from old French, old German, old Dutch and old Persian were not considered for this book.
