Beskrivelse
An outline of the lower Astronomy of the seven metals, explaining the harmony of the systems of the seven planets, the twelve signs of the Zodiac, and other constellations of the heaven of Hermetic philosophers.
This alchemical book in French, 'Abrege de l'astronomie inferieure' was printed in 1645.
The thesis of the book is that there are two astronomies, one the Superior concerned with the constellations and planets in the heavens, while the Inferior or lower is about the alchemy of metals and minerals in the Earth. The author is at pains to point out that the astronomy of the heavenly bodies provides a limited and flawed perspective, and that the Inferior alchemically based Astronomy is the more important. He presents a mass of classical mythology that explains the alchemical properties of the metals and minerals.
