Beskrivelse
Gordon Garrett was born blind in one eye. He went through debilitating experiences as a youth but still managed to complete high school. When he went out to work, he faced more difficulties. The paper mill where his father worked considered it too risky to have him work in the mill so he took courses learning to cook and bake in Vancouver B.C. At first, he worked as a baker in a construction camp then worked in the Yukon with a survey party doing the cooking but he also took his ever-present dog with him. He had become adept at working with dogs and horses. Then he worked on a floating logging camp for a while as the cook, where he had his first experience dealing with a woman- the bosses wife. However, he missed the dogs and travelled back east where he worked at a big German Shepherd kennel and veterinary hospitals. From one German Shepherd he developed his own kennel and learned how to trim dogs. He also started writing about dogs and their structure as he worked his way through the German Shepherd dog club of Canada. He took over their magazine and wrote more articles and eventually a book about the breed. Eventually, he went to university; his writing branched out and he started writing about people and life experiences. He wrote the story of Grew Tuckett and his experiences with dogs and woman, largely based on people he knew and his own experience through life and the experiences that they went through and lastly the joy that he finally experienced with the woman that he met by chance. She experienced the same pleasures that he did as they went through the final years together.
