In 1943 thirteen year old Ben was suddenly faced with the death of his elderly father. During the funeral he realized that he would never be able to talk to or see his father again. He felt that he was utterly alone in this world.Seventy-six years later, Ben recounts his years of growing up without his father. He remembers how he survived by relying upon Jesus Christ and his faith in Him. He explains the importance of the local school and the people of the community who helped him and the rest of his family to survive. He shows us the importance of having a strong Christ based family, community, society and nation in which to raise our children. Ben points us to the One who comforts and protects those of us who will accept and live for Him. He guides us through this world where we are strangers as we travel towards our real home that He is preparing for us. Ben's story and the message of hope that it imparts is pertinent to all of us, both as individuals and as a nation, that are searching for the best life as Christians who are indeed 'strangers in a foreign land.'
