A catechism is a series of questions and answers designed to teach the basics. In this internet age we see a kind of catechism in the form of an FAQ, "Frequently Asked Questions." An FAQ is a list of questions and answers giving basic information on a particular subject.
A Christian Catechism is designed for parents and churches to teach pre-adolescent children basic instruction in the Christian faith. A Christian Catechism is not based on any specific denominational beliefs. The authors' theology is consistent with the Reformed faith of many Christian denominations, such as Baptist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Anglican, etc. Although designed for children, it may be used by other age groups, including adults needing basic instruction in the faith.
A Christian Catechism consists of fifty-one questions with answers. The subjects in the catechism are You and God, Sin, Salvation, the Christian life, the Bible, Prayer, the Church, and the Future. Questions are briefly stated, and answers are in short, easy to say and learn sentences.
A brief list of supporting Scripture references for each question has been included as an appendix.
